Journey

Upon landing in Hue, our guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Your first day is at leisure — perfect for resting and exploring Hue’s relaxed street life and riverside cafes on foot. Early explorations can yield compelling candid shots, especially during golden hour.

Overnight in Hue

Begin your exploration of Vietnam’s former imperial capital, where history, architecture, and river landscapes create endless photographic opportunities. Today’s focus is the legacy of the Nguyen Dynasty, which ruled Vietnam for over 140 years.

Your morning starts inside the Imperial City, the last royal citadel of Vietnam, featuring three layers of ramparts and iconic landmarks such as the Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace, The Mieu Temple, and the evocative Forbidden Purple City.

Later, enjoy a leisurely boat cruise on the Perfume River, stopping to photograph the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, the enduring symbol of Hue and one of the city’s most atmospheric locations.

In the afternoon, visit Thuy Xuan Incense & Conical Hat Village, where vibrant bundles of incense fill the air with cinnamon and sandalwood aromas. Observe artisans crafting traditional Hue conical hats and capture striking colors and textures.

Your day concludes at the Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, set amidst pine forests and tranquil lakes—an ideal location for architectural and landscape photography.

Overnight in Hue.

Pro tip: Early morning is ideal for capturing the citadel with softer light and fewer crowds — perfect for editorial-style photography.

Today offers a deeper look into rural Hue and lagoon life, perfect for storytelling photography. Cycle through peaceful countryside roads shaded by bamboo groves, passing rice paddies, vegetable gardens, palms, and village homes.

Visit the beautifully preserved Thanh Toan Tile-Roofed Bridge, an elegant wooden structure that has inspired generations of poets and villagers. Nearby, explore the local market and agricultural museum, capturing candid moments of daily life.

In the afternoon, head to Tam Giang Lagoon, the largest and most beautiful lagoon in central Vietnam. Visit a local fishing family to learn about traditional fishing methods, nets, traps, and lagoon-based livelihoods. A boat cruise across the lagoon reveals stilt houses, corral fishing systems, and changing light—offering exceptional opportunities for dramatic and intimate photographs.

Overnight in Hue.

Photography tip: Focus on silhouettes of fishermen and nets at sunrise for dramatic compositions.

Depart Hue for Hoi An, one of the most photogenic towns in Asia. En route, stop at Lang Co Beach, where white sands, turquoise waters, and fishing boats create striking coastal scenes.

Continue to the Marble Mountains, a cluster of limestone and marble hills known for spiritual caves, pagodas, and traditional stone-carving villages. Photograph artisans at work and capture the contrast between craftsmanship and sacred landscapes.

Arrive in Hoi An in the late afternoon.

Overnight in Hoi An.

Night scene bonus: Lanterns by Hoai River light up at dusk, offering glowing long-exposure compositions — one of Hoi An’s signature visuals.

Rise early for a sunrise visit to a fishing village, where fishermen return from a night at sea. Capture authentic moments as locals unload catches, mend nets, and smoke or dry fish—an intimate glimpse into coastal life.

Afterward, wander through Hoi An Ancient Town, photographing architectural and cultural highlights such as Quan Cong Temple, Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, Tan Ky Ancient House, Phung Hung House, and the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge.

The afternoon is free for independent exploration, street photography, or a relaxing visit to An Bang Beach.

Overnight in Hoi An.

Cycle to Tra Que Vegetable Village, famous for its organic herbs and farming traditions. Begin with a visit to the local market to learn about Vietnamese ingredients, spices, and produce—an excellent opportunity for colorful close-ups.

At Tra Que Waterwheel, enjoy a welcome drink before changing into traditional farmer attire and conical hats. Participate in hands-on farming activities such as soil preparation, transplanting vegetables, watering with traditional tools, and harvesting—ideal for action photography.

After a relaxing herbal foot soak, continue to a rice paper-making village, where you’ll photograph and experience each step of the traditional process.

The day concludes with a Vietnamese cooking class, learning to prepare local specialties before enjoying the meal you’ve created.  Food photography and local flavors add cultural depth to your portfolio.
